Tatiana Castañeda (she/her) is a Company Dancer and Teaching Artist with Aerial Dance Chicago. Originally from Oak Park, IL she has trained extensively in ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary dance. She started dancing at the age of three at the Academy of Movement and Music and was a dancer with MOMENTA Dance Company throughout her training there. During this time she was able to perform historical modern works by Martha Graham and Doris Humphrey, as well as many classical ballet roles, and works by Randy Duncan, Sarita Smith Childs, Caesar Barajas, Sarah Cullen Fuller, JP Tenuta, and many others. Tatiana went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2020 from Point Park University, where she performed works by Dominic Walsh, Matthew Powell, and Jay Kirk, as well as works choreographed by some of her peers. In addition to concert dance, she has also been involved in various musical theater productions, and in 2019 she had the pleasure of joining the cast of the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center’s Pittsburgh production of Lin Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights as a swing. After her time in Pittsburgh, Tatiana has been lucky enough to return home to the Chicago area and has become a teacher at the Academy of Movement and Music. She has also returned as a guest artist with MOMENTA Dance Company and has danced with Movement Revolution Dance Crew in various performances including Chicago Dancers United’s Dance for Life in 2021. Tatiana is thrilled to be dancing and teaching with Aerial Dance Chicago, and is looking forward to continually expanding her movement vocabulary with aerial dance training.
