Katie Nicole Harmon (she/her/hers) is a multimedia dance artist based in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, received her early dance training across Western NC, and graduated with a BA in Dance Performance, Choreography, and Theory from UNC Charlotte. She joined Aerial Dance Chicago in April 2019 as an apprentice and was promoted to Company Dancer in December 2019. Her film+choreographic work focuses on exploring the relationship between the animal/physical body and the digital/virtual realm. She has presented work across the US and internationally in Italy and Serbia. Harmon’s most recent dance films have been featured by Palm Springs International Dance Festival, Dance on Screen Alabama, Sit Still Projects, Banks Performance Project, Mobile Dance Film Festival, Videopark, and in Carolina Muse Magazine. Katie is also the director of the Ballet program at Dixon Dance Academy. With her roots in the foothills of Western North Carolina, Harmon is deeply invested in increasing access and exposure to professional dance in rural youth populations. Her performance based passions include exploring movement through improvisation, ballet, contemporary, modern techniques, contortion, and of course aerial dance.
